Story Disk is a multimedia disk with High Definition rendering:

Hard drive: connect it via USB to your computer to copy your files and watch them on the TV. Multimedia: link your StoryDisk to your television either by HDMI or standard SCART. StoryDisk will render your “standard definition” files to a “High Definition” resolution in HD 1080i or HD 720p via the HDMI (digital) connection. Use the HOST USB 2.0 COPY to read or transfer files from your computer to the StoryDisk, without disconnecting it from the TV, using a USB Flash or Hard disk, or an SD or MMC card.
